Questions sometimes asked
Burn time
| Q. | Why am I not getting the full burn time when I use the torch? |
| A. | The batteries of the torch should give approximately 300-500 recharges or last 3-5 years, but this does very much depend on the usage. The more regularly the torch is discharged and recharged, the more recharges you are likely to get. If a torch is left unused for long periods, the batteries become dormant and need to be revived.
Put the torch through a series of charge/recharge cycles, timing the discharge each time. If the burn time increases with each cycle, keep on doing it until the burn time recovers to the full specified time. If you do not achieve any significant improvement, please get in touch with Lighthouse. |

| Q. | If I charge my torch and use it immediately and I get the full burn time, but if I leave it a few days, the burn time drops off dramatically. What's wrong? |
| A. | The batteries of the torch should give approximately 300-500 recharges or last 3-5 years.
I'm afraid that it is likely that your batteries are on their last legs. If you are happy to continue charging the night before you use the torch, you might find that it will last a few more months, before the batteries die altogether. When you need new batteries, contact Lighthouse Diving, where the new batteries have to be fitted by us, to maintain your guarantee. |
Grub screws
| Q. | The grub screws in the bottom of the casing are stuck. I wanted to replace a bulb and, when I tried to take the screws out, the allen key slipped in the socket. |
| A. | As mentioned in the maintenance guidelines, it is a good idea to remove these grub screws about once a year, grease them and replace them, to avoid this problem.
When it begins to slip, don't push it. Return the lamp to Lighthouse Diving; we may be able to resolve it, but it also might need to be drilled out. At worst, it might involve buying a new casing. |
Charger problems
| Q. | I have a 620-S, 1250-S or 1250-D torch and the jackplug connectors have become very encrusted and I suspect that I am not getting a good connection for charging. |
| A. | The jackplugs may need to be replaced, but you might try dipping the metal part of the plugs into a normal kitchen descaler, to remove the encrustation. When you have done this, do not forget to rinse them thoroughly, before using them again.
It may be that, when you have cleaned them, the jackplugs are damaged and do not work. They need replacing.
To avoid this happening in the future, ensure that the connecting points on the torch are both clean and dry, before starting the charging process. |

| Q. | I have a 620-S, 1250-S or 1250-D lamp and the charger does not seem to be charging the torch. What's the problem? |
| A. | How clean are the jackplugs? If they're very dirty, clean as above.
First check the charger itself. If the jackplugs are clean, plug the charger into the mains, switch it on and touch the two jackplugs together. If the charger is working, the LED on the charger will light up. If not, the problem is in the charger and it needs to be replaced. If it does, the charger is working OK. It may be that the problem is in the torch or the connectors in the torch. Connect the charger up in the normal way and put the jackplugs into the torch. If the LED on the charger lights up, it should be OK. And the torch should charge.
If, having tested the charger independently, this does not cause the LED to light, your problem is definitely in the torch. The most likely cause is that the batteries need replacing. Contact Lighthouse Diving to arrange replacement. There is also a remote possibility that there is a circuitry problem in the torch: this should also be referred to Lighthouse Diving. |

| Q. | I have one of the Speed charging torches and the LED on the torch is flashing Red. What's wrong? |
| A. | Firstly check that the torch is not switched on. This causes the LED to flash.
If the red light flashes, disconnect the charger. You are not getting any charge into the torch.
If this is not the cause of the problem, it may be that one of the sensors in the torch has failed to reset itself. Try again tomorrow; if this does not work, you will need to return the torch to Lighthouse Diving. |
